The forecast was poor, but the wind showed up anyway making the 2005 Season’s final Regatta a fun and exciting event.
J-St blew a consistent 11-14 through the afternoon, keeping everyone on a plane and leveling the field.
Peter Bonello played rabbit for the 1st start and the fleet got off clean with Dave O and Gabor flying upwind and rounding the house (Windward Mark) neck and neck. Gabor kept excellent speed downwind and held off Dave for the win. Peter came in 3rd followed by Dave D and Tuan.
In the 2nd race, Dave O once again showed excellent upwind speed (where was that all year?) and rounded 1st, but Peter held better downwind speed and passed Dave on the last tack. Once again Gabor hammered downwind, also overtaking Dave and finishing 2nd.
The 3rd and 4th race played out as the 1st had. Dave O rounded the windward 1st, but Gabor managed to pass him downwind and finish 1st. Dave took 2nd in both races, followed closely by Peter.
With the tide dropping we managed to get in one final race. Dave O sat this one out leaving Gabor and Peter to fight for 1st. Gabor once again finished 1st, with Peter 2nd and Dave D 3rd.
With the Regatta win, Gabor edged out Dave D to end the Season in 3rd. Peter’s 2nd place was enough to land him atop the standings, passing Devon (who never lost a regatta!) and finish the 2005 Season as SDWA Formula Series Champion.

The first Regatta for 2006 will be Held, Jan 7th at J-St.
