11 competitors shared an overall a good racing day at The Hilton. We had a typical summer thermal blowing a consistent 10-14mph for the entire Event. Coming down to share in the fun were LA racers Joe Roth, Gabor Vagi, and Peter Bonello. The local talent was shy two of our best in Lasse Uronen and Dave O'Connor, but a host of regulars showed to make for a good sized fllet.
All 6 of the Formula Races used the Island Loop course. Peter Bonello, having never sailed The Hilton before, still managed to rip the Fleet winning the first 5 races. Both Joe Roth and Gabor Vagi spent the day battling for second, with Joe edging out Gabor by a point. Dave Dombrowski also showed consistent speed and managed an impressive 2nd in the 1st race.
We threw in a few fun Slolom Races inbetween some Formula Races.; a nice change of pace that allowed more sailors off the beach to participate. This looks to be a good idea for the future.
Our next meet is Sept 11th at The Hilton. We'll be having an SDWA picnic at the same time/place.
